Get Involved

Is the conservation of natural resources an important cause to you? If so, the NCCD has a number of ways you can get involved.

The NCCD has been in existence since 1949. The history of conservation districts is rooted in serving the agriculture community. In fact, conservation districts were born to help alleviate the soil erosion crisis of the Dust Bowl era. Today, conservation districts have grown to serve a much greater variety of issues. Not only do we serve the agriculture community, but we also work with contractors, municipalities, watershed organizations, and YOU! We can’t do this, though, without your support. In addition to the satisfaction of joining a team that has worked to conserve the natural resources of Northumberland County for over 60 years, you can be proud of the fact that your contribution is going towards this very cause.

Upcoming Events

Board Member

The NCCD is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors who are responsible for guiding the direction of the District. Our Board is required to be comprised of 4 farmers, 2 non-farmers (public directors), and 1 county commissioner. If you have an interest in becoming a Board member, contact our office for more information on the nomination process.

For more info on the nomination process, contact Judy Becker at 570-495-4665 x 305 or jbecker@nccdpa.org.

Associate Director

Perhaps you are unsure what level of commitment you’d like to provide. If this is the case, we’d recommend considering attending a Board meeting and inquiring about being an Associate Director. This is less of a commitment, but you will still have the ability to participate in District activities and committees.

For more info on the sign-up process, contact Judy Becker at 570-495-4665 x 305 or jbecker@nccdpa.org.
