Our Speakers
Dr. Allen Williams
Allen Williams is a 6th generation family farmer and founding partner of Soil Health Consultants, LLC, Grass Fed Insights, LLC, and a partner in Joyce Farms, Inc. He has consulted more than 4,200 farmers and ranchers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and South America. Allen pioneered many of the early adaptive grazing protocols and forage finishing techniques and has spent the last fifteen years refining them. His research and business focus include soil health, cover crop/livestock integration, adaptive forage and grazing management, high attribute pasture-based meat production, and alternative marketing systems. Allen and his colleagues specialize in whole farm and ranch planning based on regenerative agriculture.
John Wallace, PH.D.
John Wallace serves as an Assistant Professor of Weed Science and Weed Extension Specialist for field and forage crops at Penn State University. His research and extension program focuses on best management practices for new weed control technologies, integrated weed management tactics, negotiating tradeoffs between weed management and soil health practices, and organic weed management strategies in full- and reduced- tillage systems.
John Tooker, PH.D.
John Tooker serves as an Associate Professor of Entomology Extension Specialist at Penn State University. His research focuses on the principle that while soil health systems improve soil quality, they can also simultaneously help build robust populations of soil invertebrates, including predatory species that can be allies in pest control. His research suggests that incorporating IPM with other soil health practices maximizes the potential for fields to better withstand pest invasions while diminishing the potential for pesticides to degrade benefits provided by soil health practices.
